Our team stands beside survivors, offering compassion, advocacy, and the resources they need to move forward and thrive.

Who We Are
Founded on compassion and community, Roberta’s Place is an emergency shelter serving survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, along with their children, throughout Cibola County and surrounding rural areas of New Mexico.

Our shelter feels like home — a warm, family-style environment with shared living spaces, supportive staff, and a focus on healing. We know that safety is the first step toward recovery, and we provide a safe, confidential place where survivors can rest and rebuild with dignity.

Each survivor’s story is unique.
Our staff meet people where they are, offering understanding, respect, and individualized care.

I Finally Slept Without Fear

After years of abuse, I felt like I was disappearing. I didn’t know who I was anymore. Just that I was tired, scared, and constantly walking on eggshells. One night, with nothing but a backpack, I called Roberta’s Place. They answered immediately.
They didn’t ask why I waited so long. They just listened  and they believed me. That night, I stayed in their shelter. For the first time in a long time, I slept without fear.

They Helped Me and My Kids
Start Over

I left in the middle of the night with my two kids. I had no plan, no car, no money just the instinct to get us out. A hospital worker gave me the number to Roberta’s Place.

They Listened. That Changed Everything

I was sexually assaulted by someone I trusted. For months, I felt ashamed and numb. I didn’t want to tell anyone I thought no one would believe me. But when I found Roberta’s Place, everything changed.
